When meditating most people prefer loose, comfortable clothing. For beginners who might feel self-conscious or are struggling with their weight, a loose t-shirt and shorts or sweatpants are acceptable. Meditating should not be stressful, so any comfortable clothing is acceptable even a robe and slippers. Others meditate while walking or doing light exercise and, in that case, walking shoes and attire should be worn.

Natural materials such as cotton, linen and bamboo are the best materials. Even better if they are organic with natural dyes. Clothing dyes and materials can rub off and be absorbed by the body when sweating. Wearing natural clothing will be beneficial to your health.
